You cannot go wrong with a classic chocolate chip cookie. Crispy edges, a gooey center, and melted chocolate morsels scattered throughout.
There are a few reasons why I love to make cookies from scratch:
- They taste better than the store bought
- You can make extra and freeze some for nights when you only want one… or three
- You know exactly what is going into them
- You get to brag to your friends and family that you made them
Be warned about that last one because once you start bringing these around, your friends and family will ask you to bring them every time!

- Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

- Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
- Add Vanilla and Eggs: Add the vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture, followed by the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition until fully combined.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Form Dough Balls: Using a cookie scoop or spoon, scoop out portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake the Cookies: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown and the centers are set.
- Cool and Enjoy: Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy your freshly baked homemade chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite hot beverage!
Notes
Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to several days, although they’re likely to disappear quickly!
